VIrtual Prototyping Panel (VIPpanel) Reference Project

This reference project "dryAIRdelux" shows the result of a typical real-world product, which was developed with help from the VIPpanel.

Step 1

At the beginning there is an idea or a specification. This must normally be converted into a prototype, in order to convince the project leader or customer of the design and operation.

The VIPpanel can be utilised to:
- .. define the look of the front panel
- .. present the solution, including the LCD type, key positions and indicators in the chosen size and colors.
- .. test and optimise the operation of the keys and menu functions

The project leader or customer can already evaluate and approve the design and operation.

Step 2

The production of the approved front panel is committed and the development of the complete product is continued with support of the VIPpanel.

The VIPpanel is used for simulation in a Windows based development environment or communicates with the target hardware via serial or Ethernet LAN interfaces.

Step 3

The newly produced front panels are connected to the final equipment. Since the interfaces to the hardware are identical to those of the VIPpanel, there is no further development effort required by this step..

The product is approved and released for production.

Step 4

As part of the advertising and marketing concept it is possible to utilise the VIPpanel to present the design and operation of the equipment; for example for download on the company's home page. Our reference project is a useful example of such an instrument.

Step 5

The VIPpanel can be delivered together with the product in the form of an interactive operating manual. Again our reference project shows such possibilities; notice how tool-tips have been associated to keys and indicators; press F1 with the mouse over such an element to get a context sensitive help.
