This board was designed for a customer with the requirement of interfacing
a proprietary parallel port to a USB bus. The board was also designed with
flexibility in mind, so that it could easily be used for other applications.
For this reason not all parts are mounted on the original version shown
in the photograph.
Summary of features:
MC68302 processor operating in 8 or 16 bit mode with up to 1M RAM and 4 M FLASH (containing 32kbyte boot program)
11.0592MHz clock (up to 25MHz)
8 bit buffered parallel port with 13 control lines
RS-232 (115kb/s) + RS-485/RS-422 (250kb/s > 100m) + USB interfaces (USB operates with either Philips PDIUSBD12 or National Semiconductor USBN9602
at full speed with DMA support)
5V..16V supply (approx. 35mA at 12V)
Reset and voltage monitoring (push button reset for maintenance purposes)
Real Time Clock with either battery backup (10 years) or capacitor
(1 week) backup
Digital thermometer with thermostat
FLASH programming over RS-232 (boot program in protected FLASH sector)
Card supports low power modes and operates with an operating system,
written in 'C', from FLASH
Bus expansion connectors available, which can be used for development
(logic analyser connection) or further options, such as a slave processor
for additional serial interfaces.
